How to connect with different types of people

As you know everyone is different. Some people are more attentive to visual communication, some
people are auditory and some are kinaesthetic. You must speak to the three kind of people.

Visual people will love your PowerPoint presentation but that is not enough as you are the one
delivering most of the presentation. Visual people give more attention to sentences such as : "do you
see what I mean", "how this would look like if". In the same way, auditory people will love to hear your
explanation but also give more attention when you say sentences such as "can you hear what I mean",
"I will repeat that again to you". Kinaesthetic people will need to feel what is being said. You should
say sentences such as "how would you feel for moving to the next topic?", "Which part of that process
would be the toughest?".

Practice with that idea by looking around yourself, by looking at your friends, by looking at your work
colleagues. What type of people do you think they are : visual, auditory, kinaesthetic ? What type of
sentences do they often use ? "I see what you mean", "I hear what you mean", "I feel in agreement
with what you mean". Remember that different points of view may simply come from the fact that we
perceive differently our own environment.  We tend to represent and perceive the reality in our own
way. A husband may repeat to his wife that he loves her. The wife may get upset as she would expect
that he also demonstrates love with special attentions, like offering flowers. The man may be more
auditory while the woman may be more visual. When a man and woman seduce themselves at the
beginning of a relationship, they tend to use naturally all three ways of communication. After some
time, they will behave again under their dominant perception filter. The same principle shall apply
when presenting. Speak to all types of people.

Now that we have covered the fundamentals of presentation, we will move to the development of your
presentation on PowerPoint.
