Presenting with PowerPoint

I would recommend not to use transitions. Why ? Again you should be the center of attention. Your
slides' contents are now powerful enough. There is no need to add more effects. Transitions take also
time to insert. Your focus should always be first the contents and the preparation of your speech.

You should be checking the technical set up long in advance before the presentation. Checking the set
up means connecting the computer to the beamer. I have always met small issues. That is the reason
that I am always using my own beamer.

PowerPoint offers the option of Presenter Mode.

The presenter mode enables to view on your computer screen different modules :

ü  The projected slide

ü  The slides before and after the projected slide

ü  Your notes but only shown on your computer

ü  The time

The computer must have multiple monitor capability. With this set up, the wall screen becomes an
extension of your computer. If you present documents such as excel sheets, simply drag the open
document to the right of your computer screen. The wall screen is considered by your computer as
being on the right of your computer screen.

As you can see the next slides on your computer screen, you can jump to a slide in case you run late in
your presentation without the participants noticing.

You shall use a slider with pointer to present. It is easy to find online or at high tech shops. It is not
the slider which is important here, it is the fact that you must be free to move in the room. Your focus
is the audience and nothing else. That is again the key of great presentations.

The second table will open. Click on "Show Presenter View" and "Display slide show on Monitor 2".
When clicking "Slide show", the presenter view mode will display on your computer screen.

When presenting, you can always black out the screen simply by pressing "B" on the keyboard. It is
also a great way to catch back attention. Press again the "B" to resume the slide presentation.
