In addition to the slide layout provided by PowerPoint (Design in ribbon menu), you can simply build
and customize your layout with imported images, your company logo, etc..

The top part of the below slide is an example which took me 1 minute to build. First I found the image
relating to the subject of mystery. Second I have assembled the items :

- a rectangle colored in blue ( insertion > shape rectangle ; format > color filling options)

- the image ( insertion ; format > special effects > options > format 3D ).

 The limits are your imagination.

To build your own layout

ü  Insert  shapes > rectangle  > images

ü  Cover the slide with the rectangle (s)

ü  Format to fill with a color the rectangle

ü  Save the slide as an image (using paint)

To apply your PowerPoint template (on a existing presentation)

ü  Go to Design

ü  Go to Background Style > Format Background

ü  In the Solid Fill, insert the image
